As a Lead Kaizen Consultant, you will act as a leader, coach, and facilitator for organizational Lean transformation as a part of Lean Team. You will place strong emphasis on executing to the following outcomes: cultivate an environment of problem solving to achieve long-term organizational quality, timeliness, and efficiency while delivering value to Premera Customers. Additionally you will serve as a change agent by coaching all level of leaders to deploy Lean across the enterprise.Provide leadership, instruction and guidance on enterprise-wide improvement efforts.

What you’ll do:

  • Coaches and trains all levels of leadership throughout the organization to develop an environment that fosters continuous improvement
  • Translates the theory of science of continuous improvement and innovation into the practical methods that achieve sustainable results
  • Develops and maintains a strong strategic relationship with senior business leaders serving as a liaison between the business stakeholders
  • Consults and works with senior leaders to identify key business issues to outline strategic alternatives, while identifying key performance indicators and make them visible in the workplace
  • Leads efforts in creating a plan with executives and business area leaders to develop an environment where problem solving thrives and execute to achieve successful outcomes
  • Provides system-wide education/training on a process improvement approach that focuses on the elimination of waste, increased standardization and the creation of value
  • Coaches and trains the Lean Team to advance their Lean knowledge and experience
  • Prepares for, leads and facilitates continuous improvement events
  • Works with senior leaders to share success and create a common language of improvement and fidelity in the utilization of tools and methodology
  • Clearly communicates analyses, conclusions and actionable insights to facilitate understanding of issues to a variety of audiences ranging from front-line staff to executives and external constituents
  • Acts as internal subject matter expert on kaizen and Lean philosophies and practices supporting ad hoc requests
  • Leads planning and evaluation of Premera’s Lean training programs, integrating adult learning theory and methods into all materials and curriculum

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor degree in related field 4 years equivalent work experience required
  • 5 years of experience in Lean methods, principles and tools, or equivalent methodologies, including a track record of implementing successful programs and quantifiable record of success required
  • 2 years of experience in process improvement, directly working with customers at the front-line staff, managerial, and executive levels required
  • Master’s Degree in business, health care management or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through the creation of innovative strategies, methods, and approaches, working independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to facilitate collaborative solutions to complex multi-disciplinary problems and articulate features and benefits to appropriate management audiences
  • Skill to influence behavior and direction without direct authority, while being results driven and ability to keep teams and individuals on task
  • Observe and provide feedback and coaching to senior leadership on Lean leadership behaviors
  • Excellent problem solving skills, strong technical and analytical abilities
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, characterized by a professional presence, respect for others, good listening skills, clear writing and thinking skills, an open mind, critical thinking, demonstrated sound judgment and ability to work with ambiguity
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects across the organization using project management skills
  • Experience with tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Gemba Walks, A3, 3P (Production, Preparation, Process), Root Cause Analysis, and 5S
